State FLORIDA CRESTVIEW (regional info) ECONO LODGE CRESTVIEW JAMESON INN CRESTVIEW Crestview is a beautiful city, located in the Northwest Panhandle of Florida, where residents enjoy the advantages of a mild climate, low crime rate, and country living, with shopping and sugar-white sand beaches just minutes away. The City of Crestview is situated at the junction of three major highways: U.S. 90, State Road 85, and Interstate 10. Crestview is 54 miles east of Pensacola, 160 miles west of Tallahassee, and 30 miles inland of the Gulf of Mexico. The average summer temperature is 80 degrees and the winter averages 51 degrees. Lumbermen, farmers, ranchers and mercantile owners established a trading center on the crest of the Yellow and Shoal rivers by the late 1800's. The Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad began building a track between Pensacola and the Apalachicola River in 1881. It was the first passenger and freight railroad track laid in northwest Florida. The railroad station was named Crestview due to the elevation of the crest at 235 feet above sea level, which makes the city the second highest elevation in Florida.
