YWCA Historic Downtown El Dorado's newly restored historic downtown area offers a fine opportunity for browsing in unique specialty shops, shopping, and fine dining. Nine of the buildings in this area are on the National Historic Register and most date back to the 1920s and 1930s. The Rialto Theatre in the downtown district is the only working art deco theatre in the state. Museums Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources - State museum near Smackover tells a fascinating story of the 1920s oil boom in South Arkansas and the oil and brine industry past, present, and future. See actual rigs and equipment, and tour actual fields where "black gold" was first discovered. Wildlife Established in 1975, Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is located in southeast Arkansas, approximately eight miles west of the town of Crossett. Named for a small community located at its southwest, this 65,000 acre refuge contains an abundance of water resources dominated by Rivers and the Felsenthal Pool.
