The Auburn Metropolitan Area--officially the Auburn-Opelika Metropolitan Statistical Area--
is a metro area in east-central Alabama with a 2005 population of 123,254. 

It was the 19th fastest growing metro area in the United States between 1990 and 2000. 

The Auburn Metro area consists of Lee County, and includes the cities of Auburn (population 48,348), 
Opelika (population 23,483), and the northernmost portion of Phenix City (population 28,936).

Dogwood and Azalea Trail.  Citizens of Historic North Opelika come together to create the acclaimed

to Auburn University and its SEC competition in all sports. The Opelika High School sports teams are ranked
