    The hotel is situated in Hildesheim in the southern part of Lower Saxony, just outside the regional capital Hanover in the former West Germany.     The Gildehaus Restaurant  The restaurant is decorated in a traditional and old-fashioned way, with terracotta floor tiles, wood beamed ceilings. Guests can enjoy marvellous meals in the cosy atmosphere, surrounded by old paintings and woodcarvings.
    Club House Bar  Another gem, whose barman has been serving drinks here since the hotel opened 11 years ago. It has lots of charm with antique furniture and is a popular meeting place for locals and visitors, whether or not they are residing at the hotel.

  • The Roemer and Pelizaeus Museum displays one of the most important collections of Ancient Egyptian art. Only 15 minutes from Le Meridien Hildesheim is the Cathedral Museum which contains many treasures and precious objects accumulated over the centuries, and which now forms one of the largest and important collections of ecclesiastical art in the world. The Ernst Ohlmer collection of exquisite Chinese porcelain is housed in the Butchers Guildhall, just opposite the hotel; it also has a very informative section on municipal and local history.
  • Historic Market Square

  • UNESCO Treasures of the World can be found in the Mariendom (St Mary's Cathedral) and the Michaeliskirche (St Michael's Church) just 10 and 15 minutes' walk away. Between 1984 and 1990, the historic market square was rebuilt as an exact replica of its original state before it was destroyed; here you can stroll around the market fountain (1540) with its shield-bearers and figures, the Town Hall and Templar House (14th and 15th century), the Butchers' Guildhall (1529), the Bakers' Guildhall (1800), Stadtschanke Tavern (1666), Rococo House (1773) and the Weavers' Guildhall (1600). On the south side are the magnificent Wedekind House (1598), Luntzel House (1773) and the Roland Charitable Foundation (1500 to 1769). Special sightseeing tours can be arranged.
